Hi again (last question for tonight)

What is the "D" indicia on this nice little #41? Thanks all!

Apologies for the rookie queries.

Hey! I'm over 100 posts!...

Chris

Congratulations on your 100 contributions.

Opinion:
The "D" on the postal hammer is there for audit purposes, all postal hammers needed to be accounted for in the distribution to offices.
Ergo, there would probably exist an A, B ...etc

Thank you Rod222. I understand the requirement for the indicia, I was just wondering if the letter 'D' meant anything (ie Drop, etc). I have not seen this letter used before. Chris

Lars,
then it would be beyond my knowledge, yet I doubt "drop"
From my collection, in a broad sense, I see numerical indicia on later Canadian stamps.

In your example time frame I have "S" and "A" underneath the top ring,
Then "time" indicia, "AM" "3PM" etc.

I remain with my original opinion, but always happy to be corrected.
You'll need to do research, or someone else more experienced than I, here, to confirm /deny.
