I need a reference to all those Gadzillions of Spanish Charity and Civil war labels and stamps.

A colleague suggested:
snip
There was a working group of the Madrid Philatelic Society
that produced a catalogue of those issues in 1995.
It was published through the Spanish Association of Philatelic
Societies.
Unfortunately, it appears to be out of print now, but I'm sure you
could find a second hand copy online or at auction.

Can anyone direct me a suitable tome? or this catalogue
A link? anything.
Thanks

rod-

There is this thread on a Spanish forum, which reproduces an old catalogue on many, many pages. It seems like it could be in the public domain.

http://www.agoradefilatelia.org/vie....php?t=15485

Hope this is useful...

(Keep going past the first page...it goes on and on and on.)

Collin,
I viewed that link yesterday, when you posted it.
It blew my socks off, what a masterpiece!.
The only negative was that it illustrated what a sad, forlorn little collection I put my name to.
They should make a graven image of that collector.

It's in my "favourites", and I thank you, but I still seek a cat, so as to give some hierarchy to my growing list of bedraggled examples.
Cheers

The most likely suspect is the multi-volume Edifil Spain, broken out by years. I haven't had that particular catalogue in my hands, and it isn't particularly inexpensive. I have no idea how thorough it is on the civil war issues.

If you find one, let us all know. I wouldn't be able to rationalize spending a lot for one, but at the right price...?

Then again, if you spend a lot for one, we can all just ask you! That seems best.

I wonder how big "a lot" is ?

I have Edifil,
(note to myself:must post an image to the "Library" topic)
Edifil is good to a point, but not for the "charities" and civil war.
I am chasing down a book "Galvez 1960"
I'll post when I have more information.

Hi Rod,

I've picked up this old thread, to let you know that there's a new Spanish Civil War Cinderella catalog. It is very good (I've it)and not too expenssive, about 40 €. The problem can be the postage: it's a 700 pages book!. But I can put you in contact with the publisher, if you wish.

40€ is a very good price in comparison to other new volumes you can find on ebay - a SOFIMA for US $224 and an Edifil Specialized Vol. V for US $112!

I have an older 2002 edition of Edifil Specialized Vol. III on its way over from Spain at the moment, including postage it was under 40€. Hopefully it will contain the Civil War issue info that I'm looking for (it says so on the cover, at least!).

Ryan,
can I buy you a copy of the Spanish War Cinderellas?,
that seems a perfect trade for that box of ephemera you donated.
Interested?

As you choose, Sir Rodney. It would undoubtedly have its place among my collection of catalogues!

The difference in prices between this new catalog and Edifil, is that, it's written by collectors just wishing to share their knowledge (I've met some of them). The only aim is pay for the printing and handling; whereas, Edififil is a commercial publisher, and they have to earn money.
