Hi all - is this just a receiver cancel on a #41? Am I using the proper terminology? Normally, would this have been on the reverse of the envelope?

NO 25 1895 - very weak Split Ring as well.

Can you tell I have time on my hands with all these questions?!...

Hi,

Sometimes they are applied because of a faint cancellation on the stamp and the postal clerk was very keen at his job :).

Here an example: Scottish receiver.
