Hi Robert - can you tell us the perfs on the stamps? I know monitor colour can be misleading, but they seem vermillion to me, and missing plate dots. Chris
Have to agree that the colour is very orange! V interesting stamps. The perfs and lack of PD do speak to a second Ottawa provenance, though. Not enough "hair" to be a thick blotting paper (IMHO). Chris

Just a bad scanner...Cell picture is correct colour. These 4 strips of three stamps are the same colour.
But as I have said before, the assigned 12.0 x 12.0 perfs leave accuracy adjustments...Below are the stamps with perforation measurements. 1 - 12.1 x 12.1 2 - 12.0 x 12.25 3 - 12.0 x 12.25 4 - 12.1 x 12.1
The "real thing" is more towards orange yellow in shade, not the red / brown oranges of 1870/71. The print is exceptionally sharp, much like a proof. It takes a keen, experienced eye to spot one (and thousands of unsearched SQ stamps).
There are two distinguishable papers. A scan would not help as the horizontal grain is not distinct.
