Hi everyone, I will be moving from the desert in southern California soon to oklahoma city. I know the environment of the 2 citiesare way different. What should I consider when storing my stamp collection in a different environment? Thanks in advance.

Home air conditioning will definitely suffice- it does for me in Florida. |

Even with A/C and heating if you open the windows in the Spring or Fall on a humid day you can do damage. If you have stamps of significant value you may want to invest in a dry box of some sort. I use a safe that is warranted against moisture and I keep desiccant and a Hygrometer in there (mine is similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/LittleGood-H...p/B07LD3PBNK) to monitor humidity. |

I use small dehumidifiers in my stamp room(see Amazon) plus containers of dessicant that absorb moisture from the air. Even better would be a large dehumidifier, either one you empty regularly or one that drains to outside your house. Air conditioning reduces moisture in the air, too, but if the a/c stops working you may have a big problem for awhile. Hence my use of additional measures. |

Interesting posts. Do you all generally avoid buying stamps from sellers who live in very humid locations, since there is no guarantee their dwelling is air conditioned?
What happens to a stamp sheet that has been in a USPS parchment paper type folder for 25 years in a humid non-air conditioned environment? |

Humidity is not as big of a problem as it can be made out to be given that a whole bunch of stamps were issued and collected before there was a/c. Be prudent but not c-r-a-z-y. |

Like Shermae, live in SW Florida. Air conditioning. I throw a few of those silicon desiccate packs in my safe as well both for firearms and the stamps. |

I also did just the opposite a few years ago...moved from San Antonio, Texas to Denver, Colorado. While in Texas, I kept my stamp collection in Lighthouse binders with slip cases in a cool, dark, air conditioned room.
