Well I am not a Millennial - I am a Gen-Xer and I agree that Stamp collecting for me is an escape, the stamps take me on a trip and it feeds my constant desire to learn. And yes it does help me stay away from so much social media :)
Nice to see this article. Nora. |

I was ok with this article until it became political and starting bashing the current administration. |

funcitypapa - I believe you read something that wasn't part of the article, but rather a solicitation from the publisher for support.

I didn't see anything political in the article, even though stamps are often about as political as it gets for almost every country in the world. |

Great to see this (saw no mention of politics, etc.) and happy that this generation is finding some worth in our old hobby. |

Calling "And, perhaps, the perfect salve for these constrained times." political seems a bit far fetched in the middle of a major health crisis. |

I do not know if a couple of people in their thirties that earn their money in the trade are represantative for millenials. The article does not provide a single example of a millenial outside the trade that collects stamps. The millenials I know look at stammp collecting as a waste of time and money.
Only when you mention an expensive stamp, they want one. Naturally, they want to get it and not buy it or search for it. |

Quote: I was ok with this article until it became political and starting bashing the current administration. I agree with those who've stated there's nothing political in the article, and the last paragraph's mention of 'contained times' certainly could refer to the worlds health and economic crisis. It should also be pointed out that the Guardian is a British publication, all references are British, and there is NOTHING that refers to the US administration. |

I know a few who are interested who are not in the business. I agree it's not many, but I suspect that many who are interested only do so on line. They don't got to shows (when there are shows) and they don't join clubs. |

As I read the article I was thinking the exact same thing as James W. It would be lovely if Millennials in North America viewed stamp collecting in the same way British Millennials do, but no evidence to this effect is offered in the article. |
