Hi hornet. Nice example of 44a PF V! Here is another one from the "Pfennig" series. This one is Mi # 42 PF III on two different colors. Plate flaw is "white line through the right '2' in denomination '20' (four types)". The flaw appears to extend to the 'G' on the left stamp. Both are expertiized by Jaeschke-Lantelme. Left stamp is "medium- to bright violet-ultramarine" (a), and right stamp is "dark ultramarine" (c). |

Thanks hornet. Here is a modern one. It is the October 29, 1974 120 pf Kirchner German Expressionist painting. Mi #823 PF I has a "shortened 'T' on 'BUNDESPOST' (field 25, part of print run)". |

And, here is is one I found yesterday. It is the August 14, 1975 Stamp Day issue (Mi #866). The Schantl BRD/Berlin Plattenfehler Katalog lists two plate flaws which are not included by Michel. This one is "field 1, part issue, break in the black, oval frame line, upper right". |

WillUK, this is not a plate flaw (constant plate variety) of which I am aware. It could be a freak/anomaly caused by foreign matter on the paper or in the ink during the printing process, or by an inclusion in the paper.
I would examine it (front and back) under well-lit magnification. |

To my eye the "error" here is probably a bit over-inking, coupled maybe with a unwiped plate. Some printers would call this "inkpull".

I would examine it (front and back) under well-lit magnification. Hi I have looked at this in a loupe and tried to do a detailed scan enlargement at maximum capability of my home equipment. It does seem to be a spot. There is no issue with the paper - The former owner who is a major expert did describe this as being "pressure deviation" which would indicate it occurred as a one off during printing rather than being a recognised variety or plate flaw. I will try to ask him as he is a found of expertise and specialised books also... |

Hi I thought I would share one more. This one is listed in Michel Spezial and described as follows: ABARTEN AND PLATE ERRORS / SOVIET OCCUPATION ZONE / PROVINCE SAXONY - MiNr. 86 with plate error II (heart at "Z" from "PROVINZ" / second stamp from above in the present vertical strip of four) - mint never hinged - cabinet - catalog value according to Michel Spezial: at least 150.00 M € |

WillUK, I hope you are not paying too much for these. The last one you posted looks like a "doughnut", a fairly common printing problem. Also, please try to check the way you post your pictures - they are all over the place

I have sent WillUK an email explaining the image uploading paraments. The SCF image upload uses the original file name plus date. SO if you upload two images with the same file name on the same day it will overwrite the file. So the solution is to make sure you have unique image file names that you upload on the same day. Don |

To the uninformed:
WillUk's "heart on Z" item (Mi 86 PFII) is the most desirable plate flaw to be found on this Soviet Zone stamp. Michel values it at 120 euros in mint, never hinged condition. It is a little nicer found in a strip. |
