Hi WillUK,

These are what we call FZL (Fallene Zähnungslöcher). These are identified as for you specific variety OU (Oben-Unten) 4-5-7 (From left to right hole 4-5 and 7 missing) and present on the entire vertical row.
This is a nice one. So Nr.916a FZL OU 4-5-7.

Hornet, thanks for posting the scan of the unlisted PF on the 40 pf stamp. A search of my stock came up empty on that one, but another PF II turned up.

Hi bookbndrbob,

Clearly it is! Nice strip. Six HAN (Partial) have this flaw.

Thanks for showing

Hi,

Little secret:

The Nr.912 in Michel does exist in color a and b. Here a Nr.912a under normal light.

Here a Nr.912a and Nr.912b under UV. Notice the yellownish paper on the right stamp.

Now I let you find the plate flaw on the Nr.912b.

@hornet785 Thanks so much for this great information. Do you have any idea on the faint I. It does seem like this would be a regular variety.

Hi WillUK,

No it is not but a printing defect as many exist on these stamps. There are 79 Plate flaws recorded for the 25 Pfg Yellow.

Getting back to the topic, which is Germany plate flaws, constant plate varieties, or "flyspecks" as they are derisively called by those who don't collect them.

Here is another one from the 1960's. This one is listed by the Schantl catalog, but is not in Michel. It is the 10 pf Daimler stamp of 1961, Michel #363. Shantl describes it as "green bulge on the rear wheel." It is on field 19 stamps of form number/pane 1.

Thanks WillUK.

Here is another one from the 1960's. This one is on the 10 pf value of the Berlin Brandenburg Gate definitive of 1966. It is Mi 286 PF II, "Break in the shading between the 4th and 5th columns of the gate". It is from booklet sheet 5, field 207, booklet pane 13, part of the printing.
