Looking for some of the knowledgeable folks on this site to help me out with this Danzig issue.

This was in a huge red box lot of Germany I bought years ago and have been digging into due to being at home like the rest of us.

According to Michel the best match for it is Mi# 56 U. I was wondering if anyone else who also collects Danzig has seen this or has one and can give me a positive ID.

The sides appear to be evenly trimmed and are parallel and don't appear fresh as well as really great condition on roulettes.

I look forward to comments or discussion.

Thanks
Richard

According to my Michel is #64 issued on March 11th 1921. It was issued without vertical perf.

Hi Cursus
My example is rouletted/serrated 13.5 not perf 14. I don't see the 64 listed in either of my Michel editions without vertical perfs either.

You might be right. My Michel is quite old and I'm not an expert on Danzig stamps.

trimmed stamp, you can see the some of the perforation if you look carefully on the lower right side and notches on the left side.

Gerhard Schueler's Spezialkatalog der Danzig-Briefmarken makes no mention of any vertically imperforate variety for this stamp.

Even if it did, no one would accept a trimmed single as "the real thing".

Thank you Johan and Bob,
My eyes are getting bad and now that I look closer at my own scan I can now see the tops of the roulettes. Oh well - I had no expectations and was sceptical to boot anyway. Guess I had a bit of roulette blindness regardless - LOL

Appreciate the help
Richard
