Hello members,

Hope you all keeping safe. I have these stamps I notice the first stamp had some errors or flaws on it. The first stamp there's a flaw on the top N and the lower N is not straight like the other also the E on Zealand is touching the border. Can you guys please advice on these findings.

Thank you. Mara

Hey marapaul

lovely universals and dominions..
Now im no expert having only a small collection of 1ds myself.

So what I can see is that you at least 3 different types of stamps here. The 1901 "Zealandia", the 1909 KEVII pictorial "dominion" and of course the 1d Zealandia official.

"There are three different designs of the penny universal postage stamps which are easily confused. The 1901 Penny Universal has vertical shading on the globe. The wake at the bow of the steamer is also far more impressive on the 1901 Penny Universal than later designs. The 1909 King Edward VII 'penny dominion' has a similar design to the 1907 Redrawn Pictorials penny with 'Dominion of' added at the top of the stamp and 'universal postage' appearing on a scroll at the bottom of the stamp. Both the 1909 King Edward VII dominion and 1907 Redrawn Pictorials penny stamps have diagonal shading lines on the globe behind the figure of Zealandia"
I quoted from this page:

There are a lot of errors on these stamps. I have a couple being the Q plate floor and the broken shield plate floor from the "dominion" which I will upload when my computer stops playing up (my excuse for being notoriously terrible at scanning stamps)I feel some of yours would be from the very worn plates and would be great to investigate. Here is a good first place to start!
