?? It appears so, absolute ignorance on my behalf no doubt. I didn't even notice that. Oh the foolishness!
What is your take on that? Forgery? Illiteracy? Stupidity? |

More likely, a poorly inked 12. Clerks are careful. A better scan is needed. |

FYI, it is not addressed to the "St. Louis Cuban Embassy". Each country that has an Embassy to the US has it in one building that is located in Washington, D.C. and that is where their Ambassador to the US has his or her office. Some larger countries have additional buildings in Washington such as their Chancery building or buildings which is where their business offices are located, and many have a Residence building where their Ambassador and his or her family live. Countries that have more extensive dealings with the US in terms of their citizens and business interests being spread around the US in sufficient terms to warrant them have Consulates. Each Consulate is headed by a Consul General who reports to their Ambassador in at their Embassy in Washington, D.C. This particular letter is addressed to a Cuban Consulate which was located in St. Louis. I do not know how many Consulates Cuba had in the US at that time but I am sure it was a number that likely included ones in places such as Miami, New York City, and other cities where there were many CUban citizens, tourists, and business interests. |
