No sign of a Milton West PO in the historical atlas available online, or mentioned on the site of the Milton historical society.

Hi,

From what I can find, Milton West is somewhat confusing.

According to Smith (Ontario Post Offices), the Post Office in Milton was opened 6 April 1836. At some point it became Milton West and on 23 March 1962 it changed back to Milton.

The earliest Milton West hammer dates from 1870. But there were Milton hammers issued in 1878 and 1880.

On 1 December 1945 there was only a Milton West post office.

When did it change? I don't think it is known for sure.

Jan
