Does anyone know where this cancel was used? I think this type was only used in Victoria, but I can't be sure. Googling hasn't yielded any examples or discussions of No. 4.
I'm pretty sure it's not NSW or ACT, though - this type has no state indicator. From what I've seen from Premier Postal's listings, there are numbers of this type that can be identified as specific Victorian post offices. Just none I can find for No. 4.
Millennium Auctions General Sale No. 56 Lot 596 gives examples dating from the 1940s on. No. 8 was St. Kilda Railway and No. 17 was North Melbourne, but it seems that the office of origin can only be established when a cover with the cancel exists.
