I haven't yet received my copy of Michel for Austria, so I'm still relying here on my copy of Scott's Classic Specialized, which is confusing me. Hope someone can help with the following.
Scott says that in 1916 Austria began "Wartime Printings on Grayish Paper." A few values of the Jubilee Issue appeared that way (SC #122c-126a). The subsequent Crown/Emperor/Coat of Arms series was also issued in 1916 (SC #145-163). Clearly again a wartime printing, but all my copies of the lower values (3h-1k, SC #145-159) are on what seems to be ordinary white paper.

My copies of the higher values (2k-10k) are on an altogether different sort of paper.

In 1917 these same higher values were reissued on what Scott calls "Ordinary Paper" (SC #164-7), followed by a second reissue in 1918, this time on "Granite Paper" (SC #172-5). My higher value stamps above don't appear to be granite paper. At least I don't see any of the colored fibers that are typically obvious. Indeed, these stamps look to be on paper that's simply colored, though Scott says nothing about that. So are my four higher values: wartime grayish, ordinary, granite, or what?
