Scott 500 is an engraved stamp (flat plate). Your stamp appears to be an offset issue … presumably one of 526 thru 528B (5 varieties).
But I'm no expert. I could be wrong.

Looks like either a type V or Va, but the image is not clear enough to tell.

There is no way that a stamp that crudely printed is engraved.

My initial impression was also that the design appeared too crude to be an engraved image. But … I can't quite seem to make what I can see of the design comfortably fit any of the five offset types. The left numeral 2 would seem to point to type VII. But the upper lip dots don't seem to be visible … on a type VII, I would think they would be relatively easy to see. A better scan might easily resolve the issue.
Added: Oops. Guess the discussion moved to another stamp. The 2nd stamp is definitely a type IV offset … the lines in the toga button are diagnostic. Scott 526.
Added again: OK … let me backtrack on the 526. While the toga button definitely looks like a type IV, the postmark says 1919 … 526 was issued in 1920. ???

Correct 1920 for offsets. I moved to a new thread to not hijack this one if you might opine there it is appreciated.

JLLebbert - Look at the center vein of the leaf ID'd in the picture of your stamp below. Note that it is broken-up into 3 or 4 pieces. Now look at Scott 500's and the 528 series stamps on Siegel. You will see that vein is generally a single, or at most a 2 piece line on the flat plate #500 whereas all the offset varieties it is broken into pieces.

Yours:

Sc# 500

Caper … thanks for pointing out the difference in the leaf. When in doubt as to whether a stamp is engraved or offset, I'll remember this discussion.
