For the benefit of others who haven't studied Hobsun's 72L5L to the extent that us two have, here is a vertically-compressed composite image that shows two key traits of this position; the very faint left inner line separating from the tessellated design near the top, and the bend near the middle of the right frame line. (edited to correct annotation on image) |

Quote: It is a Scott #24 with perforations trimmed off. Humm, interesting. Thank you. I know if I could find my notes, I dont remember anything remotely similar to that. Questions please - 1) how to know Sc24 number and what hints at perforations being trimmed off? |

Quote: how to know Sc24 number and what hints at perforations being trimmed off? The right-side ornaments are incomplete and the bottom frame line has a wide break. |

So last mystery solved - there was a typo in the auction catalogue.... I have this one that im trying to look up for the plating. Can anyone tell me the plate no.? Cert reads not 56R4 but 55R4. To me neither looks right. I cant really tell though in looking at the examples on Stamp Smarter - but, im much the novice here. Tks for any help! |

You also have the Franklin Plating Archive to try. Sometimes one or the other has more/better pictures.
