Laurie, Your first stamp is a worn-plate, plate 1L printing. The other two are from plate 2L or 3. I don't see anything remarkable about the first two, but the third one may have lines recut in the upper-left triangle and a guide dot at top right.

You're welcome, Laurie. I like the first stamp because it is close to having four margins, and it has a face-free cancel, which enhances eye appeal. It's probably from plate 2L or 3, and it may be brownish carmine.

The second stamp looks like it could be a pale claret. It's difficult to determine the plate due to the three missing frame lines.

The third one is probably from plate 6 or 7, and it is a "gash on shoulder" variety. The gash is across the top of the button on the shoulder, and was caused by damage to the transfer roller that was used to transfer stamp entries onto the printing plate.

The colors can only be estimated due to differences in scanner settings.

That lot I posted, what kind of a value would someone place on it as far as cat. value and selling value? Any guidance on that would be greatly appreciated.

BakerJ, the cat value would be about $690 based on $15 per stamp X 46 stamps, but catalog values assume the stamps are well centered, with good margins, and fault free.

19th Century US stamps in excellent condition commonly sell for around 10 percent of catalog value on ebay, partly because catalog values don't reflect true market activity very well. But stamps of this type have a large following, and lower-grade stamps in groups sell pretty well.

I've sold many groups of #11s about the size of your group on ebay. If you were to post that image on ebay, you wouldn't need to set a minimum bid for them. This lot would draw some lively bidding (closer to closing time) if you included the PAID 3 cancel and the imprint position (a slightly larger image might help). Leaving them in the lot would indicate to bidders that the group hasn't been picked through. 3cent collectors are always looking for fresh material to come on the market.

I would guess the group, as is, would sell in the $100 to $180 range.

Laurie, I mentioned that the third stamp in your last post was a "gash on shoulder" variety. Here are some more examples. The plate positions of the top two are 9R5e (orange brown) and 2R4. The pair is 25-26R6. 26R6 is a misplaced C-relief:

BakerJ, I was just reviewing some sold lots of #11 on ebay, and my estimated sell value may have been high. I'm thinking more in the $60 to $100 range due to condition.
