Hi.

I'm looking for a pre-printed Germany album from the 19th Century up to around 1950 - needs to cover the WWII years, at least, although the exact end date is not crucual.

Am loving the Scott Mexico pages currently featured on another thread. However I'm UK-based and I don't know you where can but Scott pages in the UK. Also, there's the issue of getting a compatible binder.

If these can be got in the UK, could anyone point me in the right direction? Or, are there any alternatives? Equally, I'd be happy with a fast-bound album, so long as it's pre-printed. Not wanting to break the bank, and not wanting to print my own.

Any help would be gratefully received.

It depends on the depth of your collection. Naturally, the German albums are the best and will have at least something in common with the Michel catalogue: Leuchtturm / SAFE- Lighthouse in the UK -, KaBe and Lindner. They all have websites. The drawback is they are expensive.

Scott's strength really is not in European countries.

Many thanks for the reply and the links. I've had a look, and I don't think they are really what I'm looking for. And as you say, they do get expensive when you realise you need to buy two or three sets of pages to cover the time-span.

I suppose what I want is a basic 'first 100 years' of Germany.

My collection is quite sizeable (for a country I don't really collect) but not specialised. Here are some sample pages from my stockbook, to give an idea...

Ideally, I'd like to find something along the lines of my Great Britain SG Windsor - one space per stamp, with minimal spacialisation, and suitable for stamp hinges.

You might consider the DAVO standard range - without mounts. This was marketed by Stanley Gibbons as the one country range. The pages only fit their and SG's albums.

There are quite a number of people here that like Steiner pages you have to print yourself.

Schaubek offers a range of albums for this area. You can buy pages without mounts if preferred.

Many thanks. Both of those look promising. I'll check them out some more.

Ringo. PM me. I may have something you can use. Would have to print the pages yourself though.

I have German album pages in pdf format, that I bought years ago on ebay from USALBUMS, they cover all eras I think.

I cant find USALBUMS anywhere now, so may not be selling anymore, and I'm not sure how I would stand letting people have copies.

That's very kind but I don't want to do self-printing, because I just don't have the technology or experience. And having looked at the options recommended, I'm not convinced by them.

As a UK collector, I can get a Gibbons Windsor album easily, or a pre-printed Commonwealth album - is there an equivalent German album a German collector would buy?

The Schaubek Stamps1962 mentioned. It is German. The Lindner, Lighthouse/SAFE and KaBe I mentioned also are German. They all are big names in Germany and have existed for quite some time; Lindner is a relative newcomer.

They all offer the first 100 years of Germany, but will split it in Empire, Republic and Third Reich. In the Empire era, individual states issued stamps, but they tend to issue sets of pages for those separately. You also have occupied territories for the two wars that they issue as separate sets. And the same goes for colonies. After 1945 you have Berlin, Bundesrepublik and DDR with some occupation zones. Again those tend to come in separate sets of pages. So with three sets, you have basic Germany: Reich, Republik, Drittes Reich and you can ignore the extras.

Lighthouse is easy to find in the UK. They use the English name. In Germany, they are Leuchtturm.
