
This is mint Dhar 1897 ¼A black on brown orange paper imperf. typeset stamp (SG 3) from Setting VI and position R2/4 (9) in sheet of 10 (5×2), characterized by the spade at the top left corner rotated 90° to the right and the damaged ornament at the left of the line above the denomination.
The black oval handstamp on the stamp reads
RANGANATH PURUSHOTTAM in Farsi alphabet, which was impressed on Dhar typeset stamps to validate the stamps for postal use.
The state name is printed vertically on the right side.
