Markings On Scott #334 Margin

Looking a little closer at some of the the stamps I've bought and came to this one.
I believe the dot in the margin is a guide dot. Correct? Is the guide dot used for the printing or the perforation process?
Does the green line on the extreme left have a purpose? TIA.

I think you are on the right track,
Australia has them as "Perforation Guide Pips"
The line may be guillotining Mark for pane separation.

I am not a Canadian specialist, so await confirmation.

I assume the spot may just be an ink spill or splash spot. The line is definitely a guideline for separation as Rod mentions.

There is much more to it than the above replies suggests.

On a few of the early commems and some definitives during the Wilding period extra dots are known There is an article on it in the Corgi Times newsletter January 2016 but this only refers to the lower left corner. ? Were other corners also changed.

Apparently in these cases added dots dots were used to identify different states of the plates.

This applies to this textile issue you show. Both printing plates were altered but there are three different states as shown by the dots in the bottom left margin.

Plate 1 two known states. Plate 2 three known states

State 1 - no dots
State 2 - added dot under column 2 placed 17 mm below printed edge of stamp
State 3 - added dot in left margin row 9 placed 12 mm from printed edge of column 1

Rod222 very much appreciated, I searched for a full day and came up with nothing.
So many sites with great info it's hard not to get steered away from what your looking for though.
I may send photo's to the one site above and see what they have to say.
It seems that the dot may very well have a purpose but nobody has determined just what that purpose was.
I also added a photo with a measurement for added info.
I don't see any sheets or corner blocks without an inscription on e-Bay, were there sheets without the inscription also?

I recall many years ago, seeing the slotted top of a wood screw in some selvedge ? That started me down the rabbit hole.

I have only just learnt that a dot (punch) mark, in some Jubilee lines, refer to plate numbers.
I always thought your dot in the selvedge was not just random.
