Attached are two stamps from the Birds edition of 1989, where apparently the latin names have been mixed-up. It seems the correction has been made with two additional stamps issued.

I have not found anything in Online catalogues. Is there any mentioning in Michel, Yvert, SG or Scott of this ?

If so, I would much appreciate to learn what is known about this.

Thank you

No mention of this in the 2016 Scott Catalog.

The Ghana stamps are mentioned in the Gibbons 2012 West Africa catalogue. The "a" numbers are the second versions.

SG1392 60c African pygmy kingfisher inscribed "Halcyon malimbicus"
SG1392a ditto, inscribed "Ispidina picta"
SG1393 80c blue-breasted kingfisher inscribed "Ispidina picta"
SG1393a ditto inscribed "Halcyon malimbicus".

The catalogue values for used are £1.75, £3.00, £2.25, £3.00 respectively.

@flip138

Thanks for this. I assume the initial ones have not been withdrawn and the corrected ones have been issued in addition ?! Is there any issue dates given for both variants ?

SG gives 16 October 1989 for the original designs and June 1990 (no specific day) for the corrected versions.

There is no mention of whether or not the original designs were withdrawn, but I would guess not, judging from the low catalogue value. My used copy of the original 60c is postmarked 7 May 1990, suggesting that these remained on sale at least until the corrected version was issued.
