Wow! It looks overwhelming to me. But assuming you have a clear strategy and lots of time, it will be an awesome project.

Interesting Warrehouse. Should be a nice project once finished. It looks like you also have some of the Canadian semi-official airs on cover. Those are always nice to have.

Cheers

I seem to recall some essay designs that had the "Republic" at the top of them; seems to me that it pictured a Viking.

Can anyone confirm?

The Canadian Republics noted were from the the 2 Metis Rebellions, the first of which had a stamp produced. They obviously did not last long.

This would be from the Icelandic Canadian Republic. An Icelandic colony in Manitoba, which operated independently outside the central government later suppressed. I have better notes at home. At work currently.

Here is an image of the unissued Canadian Republic stamp. This copy sold for $1,600, estimated at $1,000, in the 25 March, 2005 Charles G. Firby Auction.

Firby describes the above stamp as the "Riel Essay for the Canadian Republic believed to have been issued in 1869 during the Métis uprising which was led by Louis Riel. It is possible that there may be as many as 6 examples which exist printed in red brown plus another in black. It is further believed that in addition to the present Green Essay another exists."

All and all the project starts in 1840 obviously corresponding to the 1st stamp of the United Kingdom. It is intended to show the changes in territory expansion or reduction.
Using Canada as an example,
Canada of 1841, was a Colonial province of the UK, which included only the southern halves of both Quebec & Ontario.
Canada of 1848, the province gain a new political status of "Responsible government"
Canada of 1868, the provinces of Canada, New Brunswick & Nova Scotia are combined into the Dominion of Canada.
Canada of 1870, adds Manitoba and most of the Northwest Territories, excluding the Franklin district.
Canada of 1871, adds British Columbia
Canada of 1873, adds Prince Edward Islands.
Canada of 1880, adds the Franklin District.
Canada of 1949, adds Newfoundland with Labrador.

So it examines issuance in relation to territorial changes.
