The Birth of Rama and his Marriage to Sita
Dasharatha, King of Ayodhya, had three wives: Kausalya, Kaikeyi and Sumithra. Rama, his eldest son, was born to Kausalya. The others sons were Bharata, Shatrughna and Lakshmana.
King Janaka of Mithila had arranged a contest (Swayamvara) and announced that the winner would marry his daughter, Sita. Each competitor had to lift the divine bow gifted by god Shiva and string it.

Rama was sent to Exile & Ravana abducted Sita
Dasharatha wanted to crown Lord Rama as a King of Ayodhya. Kaikeyi, one of his wives, asked him to crown her son Bharata instead. Lord Rama, his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana went to exile for fourteen years.

She seduced the brothers and attacked Sita, but Lakshmana protected her. In revenge, Ravana sent the demon Maricha, in a form of a deer to isolate Sita. When Rama tried to captivate the deer, Ravana used his enormous power to carry Sita away, flying with her to Lanka. When Ravana abducted Sita, Jatayu, King of the Eagles, tried to attack him and rescue Sita but he got mortally wounded by the demon King.

Vali, King of the monkey Kingdom, Kishkinda, thought Sugriva had betrayed him as a king. Vali ostracized Sugriva from the Kingdom and took his wife, Roma. The brothers became bitter enemies.

Jatayu told Rama about the abduction of Sita. During their search after Sita, they met Sugriva and help him to rule Kishkinda, the monkey (vanara) Kingdom, over his brother Vali. Rama kills Vali*, Laos - 2004: *Not sure about the design. |
