The Hindu myths are a rich collection of stories that evolved at different places and times. The events in the lives of the gods were told orally for many generations before they were compiled by the poet Maharsi Valmiki into a collection that is considered the largest epic of the Hindu mythology – the Ramayana.
The Ramayana is a Sanskrit epic written in India 2500 years ago as part of the Hindu canon - the Smriti. The epic tells the adventures of Lord Rama, an incarnation of the god Vishnu, and it's fighting against Ravana, the demon King.
The Ramayana is a tale of devotion, separation, and reunion and an expression of the eternal battle between good and evil. In general, the epic explores the tenets of human existence and the concept of Dharma - the person's righteous duty on earth. Maharsi Valmiki writing the Ramayana. Indeed, I had no idea of the depth, I watched a video on youtube, with similar results. This all began, when I was trying to find where Garuda fitted into the schema.  |
