Since I now have lots of time to look through stamps, I went through some Canadian kiloware, probably purchased 4 years ago. This was a nice find. A seemingly common stamp, the 1937 coronation stamp is valued at US$0.25 used. But this one has the 5-hole perfin OHMS, making it Scott OA237, valued at about US$110.00. This one made my day.

nice find!!

Canada Unitrade catalog puts it at $160 for VF and $80 for F

The small prints stipulates that "VF stamps must have no damaged perforations caused by the positioning of the perfins"

Unfortunately there has also been many forgeries and fakes in the OHMS varieties.

Hopefully there is an OHMS expert in this forum

Hi

I'm no expert on Canadian OHMS perfins, but the phrase "5-hole perfin" refers to the vertical bars of the letter H, which in this type contain 5 holes. In a second type, the vertical bars of the H contain 4 holes.

Here is an example of the 4-Hole perfin on a completely different stamp. In this one, there are no damaged perforations.
