Are the stamps in the scan Japanese postage stamps?
Any information on them? Also the cancellation looks special, are they genuine used or just cancelled?
Thanks a lot

They are Japanese Occupation stamps
After checking my collection: The three characters in the small box stand for Malaysia. The script is Katakana and the three characters translate to Ma-ra-i or Malay

Peter is correct. These are Japanese Occupation in Malaya. In Scott, their numbers are N42 & N43. Ordinarily their cv (Scott 2017) is $4.00 each used.

They were issued as a set of 2 on Feb 15, 1944, to commemorate the fall of Singapore in 1942 and, according to Scott, to "commemorate the 'Birth of New Malaya'."

That cancellation is in the style of a Japanese commemorative cancel (often first day cancels, but sometimes commemorating something else), and since those were a set of 2 issued together on the same day, I wouldn't be surprised if they are first day cancels.

If you can make out the date (I can't), if the date is something like 44.2.15 (usually year.month.day) or, using the Japanese year convention (1944 = Showa 19), 19.2.15, then that would give you a definitive answer.

Hope that's helpful!

The inscription in the cancellation matches up with the inscriptions on the stamps, so I agree that they're almost certainly first day cancels.
