Does anyone know what territories etc that are Australian Territories? I know that Norfolk Island, Christmas Island and Cocos/Keeling Islands are. Also I have down the Antarctic Territories as well as New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and all those before 1913..

To be pedantic, the various States were individual colonies prior to federation in 1901.
My old Seven Seas catalogue has a section titled "Australian Dependencies and Former Dependencies (including post-Independence issues of Nauru and Papua New-Guinea", including:
Australian Antarctic Territory Christmas Island Cocos (Keeling) Islands Nauru Norfolk Island North West Pacific Islands New Guinea Papua Papua and New Guinea Papua New Guinea. |

The original question asked what territories are Australian Territories. You will find the current list here https://www.regional.gov.au/territories/NWPI has never been an Australian territory - it was only an overprint on Australian stamps designating them for use in former German possessions mandated by the League of Nations to Australian for administration. Naura and Papua New Guinea ceased being Territories on becoming independent states. Regards Frank |

Thanks Frank, nothing inconsistent between the original statements and my response, just quoting the contents of a 25 year old catalogue. |

A really good reference that answers the Australian Territories questions and everything else geographic is the Stamp Atlas. Highly recommended. |

Thanks, Germania. Bought a used copy of the Stamp Atlas through AbeBooks, price: $4! Arrived yesterday, hardbound, pristine condition, apparently never even opened before. And it's terrific, 336 pages, full of informative text, maps, period photos. Truly a wonderful resource. |

The territories have never been that popular a collecting item. Always seems strange to me. There was a bias from dealers that these stamps were not worth selling. Currently speaking issues. Say last 70 years. |
