I have these French overprints that I'm having trouble locating in the Scott catalog. And the two that are pairs with selvage, are these parts of a sheet, are they more valuable with the selvage? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I would never remove the selvage from stamps - it helps in determining where in the sheet the stamp came from. And yes, in some cases it enhances the value
A hint for the future. If the country name is covered by the overprint, it is most likely the result of a change in government (temporary or permanent). So start your search with countries that were under the jurisdiction of the original stamp issuing country.
