Nothing to do with stamps
Yet, I always think it does.
Philately after some years, begins to widen ones view of the world and history.
I have just finished reading "Pytheas of Massalia"
whom sailed out of the Mediteranean around 320 BC, visited the tin mines
of my native Dorset in Great Britain, and reputed to have gone as far as Thule.
He was an Ionian Greek, (West coast of Asia Minor) from Massalia (Today's French Marseille, whose ancestry was Phocaean (currently Foca, in the Gulf of Izmir, Turkey)
"Nothing to do with stamps" yet another jigsaw piece, in ones knowledge
of Turkish history, and some icing on my Turkish Stamp Collection.
One enhances the other.
Philately shares a close root relation to History.
