Perforation Hole Size Diameter Measurement

Is there any way to get an accurate perforation hole size diameter measurement? I am going to try using a set of 50 different pin gauges from 0.011" to 0.060" (-0.0002") but I am not going to try to insert them into the perforation holes since they might do damage. Instead, I will ink them on a piece of paper and then compare them.

I would try to do it with software. Paper is too soft to use pins.

I would scan the stamps at high resolution and then measure the diameter using an imaging program. I use Pixelmator, which works well, but other programs should have a similar feature.

The pin gauge set gives a little bit of a reference feel for real perforating pins that may no longer be around.
