I think he believes if someone passes the bucks over the blue line, with no returns he will score and be in the green. |

Since he uses the American spelling for color rather than the British spelling, (colour), I wonder if he really is British |

Quote: "Where do these people come from?" Maybe Neverland, or "Philator" as in the Canadian "Perf and Gauge" comic issued by Canada Post for the Stamp Travellers Club, now known as Stampquest. |

Why do we want to publicize these sellers? What good does it do for promoting positive philately? Does it ever get rid of any seller? Does it ever result in changes with ebay? |

Yes, posting their link here causes a whole bunch of us here to click the link which shows up as 200 new views on his active sales item(s). Probably encourages these guys which I assume is not your intent :-)

Yeah, you're right. We should all just turn a blind eye to any egregious ebay listing. Just ignore them altogether. Let's go ahead and let the beginning or naive stamp collector get burned by a questionable seller. That's their problem; no reason for us to get involved, even if we could have said something before hand. But, personally, I would call 911 if I saw a crime in progress. I would help another person to stand back up if they fell near me. I would also point out silly listings, like the ones shown here. And I'll continue to do so. I do not believe that anyone is forcing anyone else to click on a link here, and/or to even read any one post. Jim |

Not what I said at all. I question egregious behavior from time to time, and send sellers an unappreciated note. I think we all appreciate seeing what's being pointed out and all learning about the bad behaviors, etc.... I just remember a week or two ago something similar happened and the guy came back and wanted to know what we would offer when he received an indication from someone here that he was asking 200x normal prices for absolute garbage. The irony being that we made him think he had a 'hot' item. A few weeks back I sent a note to a guy who, I think unintentionally, worded his ad that apparently lead a couple of fools to thinking he was selling a complete, real, mnh columbian set, with a .99 ct auction start, when in fact it was the reprint set from the 1990's(?). Worth what, about $20 on ebay? Anyway, auction still had 2-3 hours to go and the bid was already well over $100. I asked him if he was going to let the charade play itself out, or stop the auction and notify the bidders (poor suckers) so they weren't holding the bag. He seemed annoyed that I thought he had any responsibility to do anything about it, even though he did seem to acknowledge how ridiculous it was. I just felt bad for the 3 newbies who were chasing this (they all had really low feedback #). I don't recall what is was about the ad, but without being clearly misleading, it was easy to see how someone could have made the wrong conclusion in this case (I think they were displayed on an 1893 titled page even though the ad description indicated their scott numbers correctly.) |

Quote: you specifically encouraged us to view his other lots ... Alright, thank you. Nice to know. I did not realize that my occasional posts with embedded links were obligatory to click on for all viewers. I appreciate the update. Jim |

I must admit that I had thought it mandatory, and have been in the habit of wearing a hairshirt for a week after any inadvertent - or, worse, knowing - failure to click ... |

I don't mean to be nefarious, but I do find these humorous! Stamps is not the only category such shenanigans appear! Seems caveat emptor is old news? |
