"Happy25" Ebays Alleged Coupon Offer For Today Only

I have been seeing posts on another board about this one day promo ebay is running for $25 off an order of $25.01 minimum. several posters on the other board allege it's worked for them. Does anyone know what the deal is?

Supposedly its only for selected customers, whatever that means. I love when ebay does this stuff...

It would seem to be a promotion for "members" who joined ebay back in the 1990s. I would have to assume with some minimum threshold of activity.

I received such an email today. I am usually skeptical of such promotions, so I was inclined to forget it, but I did go back to it eventually after reading your post, Stamps1962.

I first reviewed the excluded categories mentioned in the email. These include but are not limited to: warranties, vehicles, real estate, gift cards, and of most likely relevance to Forum members, coins & paper money. Stamps are not mentioned as an exclusion.
Auction-style listings are also excluded, and you cannot apply this on a "best offer" item.

Edited to add: Contra what you heard, it is not a one-day promotion. It is good until midnight Pacific time 10 September 2020. Also it is for items listed on US ebay and both French and English language Canadian ebay and the member needs a shipping address in the US or Canada.

I had been watching an particular non-philatelic collectible for a week or two, hemming and hawing 'cause it was a bit overpriced. It was a buy-it now item with make an offer enabled. I had been thinking of making an offer.

But with this coupon deal, I just went ahead and took it at the buy it now price. It was easy to apply the coupon which knocked off $25, which was well over half the price, and I settled for the remainder with Paypal.

So yes, it is real and works (from the buyer persepctive).
Now I just hope the doggone thing is not broken during shipment.

OK. I just used my 25.00 coupon on a 67.00 item.

In my ebay summary under orders it shows my purchase at 67.00 plus tax. Under order details though it shows that amount minus the 25.00 from the coupon. Does your purchase show the same?

As did I. Only sad thing is it can't be used on 'Best Offer' purchases (but I'm sure I'll find something to buy).

I too would have profited if Buy-It-Now transactions qualified with this discount.

However my purchase was a Win-Win for both the seller and I. I got the item for 1/3 of asking price, even with the tax added, and the seller received his full asking price.

I've been on ebay since 1996, when it was called Auction Web. I got mine via e-mail (at my e-mail address) AND via the ebay messaging system (in My ebay). I will def be using it, just haven't decided on what, though.

Mine was in my ebay messages after signing in, nothing in my email. I have been a member since May 1996. Those were the good ole days, frre to list and sell with no commissions. Omar had quite the site started, everything was so simple and uncomplicated.

Time to pick up something

A couple days ago, I used my $25 ebay coupon offer to purchase 10 brand-new packages of black Vario stock pages, 5 pages to a package, for $19.95, plus my Iowa sales tax, and also got free shipping. This was a "Buy-It-Now" deal, so no bidding was involved. At a little over $2 a package, I thought it was an excellent deal.

Lately, I think people are really bidding up nice covers and lots, knowing they have the $25 of "free" money to play with at the end of an auction. Just watch what things are selling for this week!
