Hello, I recently started collecting with the topic of the nice Stanley Gibbons New Ideal Album, that holds all British stamps until mid 1936 (no Edward VIII (?), no George VI). 2 Topics:
- My Album is missing 5 pages, is there a way to replace them.
- I am a beginner and can use "lots" that look interesting to fill my gaps - but how about overprints. There are some in the album, but there are frequently stamps with op "official" or "service" that are rarly shown in the album. Is it ok to use such overprinted "instead" of clean ones?
Hello, and welcome. The Ideal specifically excluded official and postage due stamps, so better to keep those separate as the "official" overprint makes them different stamps. The only way to replace the missing pages would be to cannibalise another, perhaps damaged, Ideal, or to obtain photocopies. Which pages are you missing?

Welcome. The good thing about this hobby is that you can place stamps anywhere in your album that you want, however, most collectors would put the officials and postage due in a separate album or stock book. Someone on the forum might be able to help with the missing pages. Post what you are needing. You could start a new thread which will help on your 50 post requirement.
Ullinho, the stamps that are overprinted are different from the non-overprinted ones. They have a totally different catalog number and are usually valued different. So you should really not substitute them in your album if only not to confuse yourself
Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ
