Rod, SG states, under Japanese Occupation - Sumatra, that local overprints were done ten districts of Sumatra. As they consider them local, they don't list them, but state that they are of great interest to specialists. Hope this helps |

The top stamp is a Revenue stamp. I have the 30 Rp. from the same series. The stamp pays the TV licence each year... just like the British, the Indonesians pay a yearly TV licence fee. This stamp pays it.
The next group of six... the top row of three stamps, and the bottom row, each stamp on the extreme left and right; are all Japanese Occupation of The Netherlands Indies issues. The centre stamp in the bottom row was a Japanese Occupation stamp, used by the folks fighting for independence, 1945-1949.
Remember, when the war ended the Indonesians declared the state of Indonesia. They faught a war with the Dutch for four years in order to gain their independence.
If you would be interested in selling or trading for those stamps, please e-mail me offline.
Thank-you!

Rod... I have one advantage beyond the catalogues. My girlfriend is from Indonesia. Anything I do not understand she translates for me. As well, any of the older Dutch stuff, Jopie can help me with.

David, I wish you had not mentioned that tv. licence fee, some politician in this country might read it, and a light bulb might come on! Just my attempt at some twisted humor, I do appreciate all of your comments,i need all the help I can get. Dean |
