When a stamp auction experience is exceptional I believe that it needs to be recognized. Old Louis Auctions was exceptional and then some.
There specialty is Russian and related material. I participated for my first time in their last auction. The live bidding is the way all auctions should be. Smooth, informative, transparent etc.. The bidding page has tabs for your overall bids, bids won, upcoming and current lots and so on. Very well done. As the current lot is bidding the previous and upcoming lots are scrolling on the bottom and you can move forward or backwards through them as far as you wish. Each lot has excellent quality photos. It is easy to track your success and failure. Bid buttons work flawlessly and the pace is just right. I won 15 lots. After the auction concluded I received a detailed invoice via email with a link to pay. That process was quick and easy. Shortly after payment I received a tracking number for my shipment. Everything arrived via registered mail and was extremely well packaged.
The best stamp auction experience I have ever had. Period. Quite a few of the largest auction houses could learn from Old Louis.
Hi - agree - stumbled across OLDBId and Old Louis only last week and have just participated in their two Russia auctions. An extremely satisfying experience - as said - how an auction and auction website should be - even for one in the UK with a very poor internet connection. Staff extremely helpful.
Hi Devruss - Glad you liked it. Isn't it something. Every philatelic auction house that runs live internet bidding should visit Oldbid and see how it's done.
