Just seen that Rasdale has posted their next auction . What is interesting to me is the many auction lots from Liberty Stamp Store . We already have a few postings about the owners untimely death .

Lots of interesting large lots. Now how to figure out how to buy 1 or 2 and hide them from my wife. |

Not surprised about Liberty. They were close to Rasdale's near Chicago. |

As always tons of interesting lots, unfortunately (or fortunately) nothing for me this time. Interesting that several of the largest lots I saw mentioned "inspection necessary" because of condition. Are they allowing in person viewing? |

There are some of the most monstrous carton lots I have seen in a long while ex Liberty Stamps. 30 cartons I believe is one lot, 22 cartons in another and so on. Overall there is some really good stuff in the mid to high priced items on stock cards as well, especially for the WW collector. |

Rogdcam ---- A few years ago I read a article about a mass of trash that is floating in the central Pacific Ocean . This is a massive 175,000 tons of garbage and very little effort is made to tackle or remove it .
I believe we in the stamp community have much of the same problem . Huge inventories of FDC, stamps on paper , picked over albums , and binders filled with KILO ware that move between buyers mostly thru auctions . Pallets loaded with boxes of dead weight . These boxes have already been bought and sold thru the same or two or three firms many times over .
I told the story about my experience with some of these massive bulk purchases .It was at a Regency Auction at a Chicagopex event . David committed to sell a huge lot for the APS . This was a charity thing for the benefit of the APS . I won the lot not because I wanted it but because David called me out and asked for a bid ,so I bid it up so he didn't haul it back to St. Louis . Got the lot ,didn't even take it home ,just drove to my shop and backed up to the trash dumpster and then went thru it . 80% of the auction lot never made it to my house . |

Floortrader - Agree completely. I have been a part of the chain myself. I purchased a large lot once, and I do mean large, went through it, broke it up and sold it through an East Coast auction house. I netted 5 times what I paid for the whole enchilada before taking out the good stuff for myself. Those "thousands of old crusty glassines" and "who knows what is in it" descriptions do it every time. |

I understand when an heir will pack up everything and send it to an action house, and I know there are hoarders out there who think every stamp is precious no matter how common or damaged, but I just don't get it when a dealer thinks it is a good idea to pay for the shipping to include children's albums and UN FDC's etc. in what they send in. |

Agree .......2 years ago I purchased a bulk lot from Kellener that nocked me to the floor . It was described as on glassines ,albums and plastic baggies. Someone took a decent worldwide collection removed the stamps and put each country in plastic baggies . Thousands of dollars of stamps into baggies, think I paid for shipping what I paid for the lot .It was 6 months of pure joy going thru each baggy . |
