Canada also used the George Catlin print except they reversed it. I like yours better Russ, want to trade? |

Hello

OK, That was really a shock, then I got a bunch of Engraved Stamps for a trade

I´m wondering why we don´t have many Engraved stamps, always looking for the Engr. text on my catalog. And now I understand why I think my catalog was wrong. Thank you for all this information.

Glad I could be a bit of help Fernando. After a few decades of looking at stamps you will have no problem in identifying whether the stamp is engraved or offset or whatever. You won't even have to feel them up either. |

Nice engraved one Fernando, now when are you going to post the rest of the set? The Spaniards used those galleys already in the sixteenth century for instance at the Battle of Lepanto, 1571 where they beat the Turks. |

A "galiot", 1 lateen sail and oars, or "galeass" 2 or 3 lateen sails, single bank of oars ( 15th 16th century...6 used in the spanish armada)

I didn't think you wanted to trade, Russ. The stamp was issued in 1972, the first of a four year annual series depicting the various major Canadian Indian groups. Since then of course the word Indian has been replaced by First Nations. The stamp is printed offset/litho and a poor print job as were most Canadian stamps in the seventies and early eighties.

lithograving, Thanks, since it probably won't cost very much for a copy, I will probably add one to my Trans-Mississippi page. I think it would compliment the 1898 issue nicely. |

The closest I ever got to the original is this 1998 re-issue, showing how bi-coloured would have looked. I still prefer the originals. |
