Stamp Scott #70, A-D Or #78, A-D 1861

Hello,

can someone help me with this stamps?

The 24c for a beginner like me could be every number from #70 to #78!
What do you think, what type/numbers are this stamps? And what do you think is the value of this stamps?

This is a question argued about by the experts. I see various shades of gray (78a and 78b),a couple that I would call red violet (70) and at least one in the lower row that appears brown (70a). I don't see any that immediately suggest steel blue (70b), 70c (violet), 70 d (grayish lilac), 78 (lilac) or 78c—blackish violet. However these stamps have served their purpose, been cancelled, and colors can change over the last 150 years. However I see none that I myself would be curious enough to send for a certificate if that is what you are asking.

I would start looking for the Philatelic Book of Secrets Volume 3, an Ottlite, and a Pantone color guide. These tools should be able to give direction if they work as advertised by expertizing professionals.

My inquisitive side wonders why the publisher of such a supposedly valuable reference makes so many expertizing errors?!?
