The crowns in the one watermark are separated by 5 rows of lines

Great information! Thanks.
Any images anywhere of the Wmk with these?
Lines do not match

These are the 2 Tuscany watermarks, from Sassone catalogue. As you can see, individual stamps can have some interesting watermark patterns based on their position in the sheet.

(apologies for the slight skew on the images, can't scan my Sassone without damaging the book, so these were taken with my phone)

Fine scans, Thank you.

This is right out of my understanding.
All I know is watermarks that are produced by a dandy roll.

I fail to understand how that wavy elipse Wmk was produced
some of the pieces are not even joined.
and then there's the name across the pattern.

Hopefully some sage member can explain.

Delightful scans Richard,
best I have seen regarding watermarks, well done you !

Care to explain your method please?

I like the way the hinge appears to highlight the paper appearance (porous)

The paper was made most probably in the mould process

thought I was only one in universe looking at Tuscany stamps last 24 hours
10 days into quarantine - UGGG!

I am no expert but I scanned in backs of these nasty stamps with the lions.
I was studying them earlier.

I have some others that have same watermark with horizontal lines only as well

I have a few forgeries of them

I believe your stamps are legit as these horizontal lines are just part of the watermark and the round circles are the parts of the crown

I actually put together the coat of arms page today- these stamps are nice and generally sound- they are all watermarked with the wavy lines. wish the 80c was just 2 mm more in that bottom right corner. story of my life with stamps: if God gave me 2 more mm I would have the greatest collection ever.

I am not an expert but I am familiar with these stamps.
The watermark looks OK to me
So does the bottom line: it is broken where it should be broken.
Can't say more. And yes, all stamps in the plate have their own element of distinction
Which means: it is not an easy-to-spot forgery but I cannot guarantee it's genuine
