Back during the Second World War and many years afterwards, prepaid envelopes with embossed postage became most popular.

My father and mother apparently cut quite a few of these out and saved them. Do they have any value?

Here are a few that I came across the other day while going through some papers.

Do they have any economic value?

No .......we find hundreds if not thousands in those big end of the auction bulk lots .Many years ago stamp album publishers would have pages for cut-outs from envelopes , not for the past 50 years have they been collected by general collectors ,there are a few that still collect them but very few. It is a specialized item .

In the main, I agree with floortrader. However -

". . . we find hundreds if not thousands in those big end of the auction bulk lots."

The one area where cut squares are just as welcome as entires would be large quantities of the same issue. It would be just what the die variety specialist is looking for.

For example, I'm always on the lookout for quantities of U311 (example below). Cut squares are actually what is preferred, as you can get more for your dollar, compared to entires.

U311 Die Variety: Ray #1 of the left ornament extends all the way to the center dot.
