Mailing Postcards Internationally From The US

I'm new to this forum; I have a question that is tangentially related to stamp collecting, and this seems to be the best place to ask.

I am a stamp collector, but my question at the moment relates to actually using stamps to mail postcards internationally.

I recently discovered Postcrossing.com, which is a web platform to exchange postcards with others around the world. Part of the appeal for me is to get the stamps that come on the postcards. Likewise, I want to use a variety of stamps when I send a postcard.

To that end, current international rate for a postcard is $1.20, and if you go to the PO they will sell you a Global Forever stamp for this purpose, which is fine.

But as long as the combined value reaches $1.20, I assume that I can cobble together any number of US stamps at that value and still use them to send a postcard internationally, right? In other words, you don't have to use a 'Global' stamp for this purpose, right?

You're correct, any combination of stamps equaling $1.20 will work. But, you might have a problem in fitting 40 3c commemoratives on to a post card.

i believe that the letter non denominated rate change issues were intended for domestic use only. given the state of the PO these days it probably would not matter.
