I need to vent a little. Is anyone else having problems with extreme;y slow deliveries by the USPS lately ?? It seems like in the past week I have had over 30 people complain on ebay about packages not arriving on time. Last year I shipped over 1500 orders and only had 2-3 complaints. This year especially this week it's really gotten bad. It seems like everything from here (NW Indiana) is routed through Chicago and then to an Omaha distribution center. Even parcels going to Florida and points east are routed over 500 miles west. People are getting ticked off and when I check on tracking all I ever get is that the parcel is in transit. I know that with Covid and everyone shipping more than ever for the holiday's things are expected to slow up but not to this extreme. I'm hoping a postal employee will read this and comment on why the weird routing.EBay also needs to let customers know that things are running slow and not to follow their unrealistic delivery times.
Thanks
Mike

Yes, I am still waiting for a 3 day priority mail shipment that has now reached 2 weeks. Got worried when it disappeared for about a week with only that it had left one office and hadn't arrived anywhere yet. Only 2 states away from me too.

this may seem small but I mailed a first class letter that needed to travel 1.5 miles away last week. It finally arrived today 6 days later (it was picked up at 9am on day 1)... must have been the virus mess I guess

It is horrible. The USPS is putting out bulletins blaming record package volume and COVID related employee shortages and asking for understanding.

The seller mailed my shipment on Oct 2 via USPS Registered Mail. Tracking shows it being received and then departing his PO that day. The last tracking entry was on Oct 6th saying it was going to be delayed but was still "in progress to its destination". As of today, that is still the case. AND THIS IS REGISTERED MAIL.

The seller refunded my money last month, but he's still waiting for USPS to pay his $1300 insurance claim. Next time you ship anything valuable or time-sensitive, remember - "If it absolutely, positively has to get there overnight, ship FED-EX".

And folks here complain about the Canadian and Australian postal systems.

I have mail from Canada that makes it to me in Massachusetts within a week or so. On the other hand I have letters from within my State that go off on magical mystery tours and after sitting for weeks and visiting various tourist hotspots lands in my box absolutely exhausted and begging for a stiff drink. Just viewing the tracking log makes me tired. Frequent flyer miles for mail would be awesome.

uboatnut: I was seeing 2-3 month delays with foreign mail TO USA this summer/fall, so it is still possible that your $1300-item will appear! My theory was that packages were getting quarantined and just sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

jamesg - If it were foreign mail, I might not be so concerned, This was a USA domestic mailing from New York to Oregon via Registered Mail. Even the Pony Express could have had it here long ago.

Very strange for Registered mail given that it supposed to be under lock and key and signed for by every person that handles it. If it truly disappeared that is actually very concerning.
