The scan GPS info is available to the supervisor of your local Post Office. If something shows delivered but you never got it they can get the coordinates of the box where it was delivered. I don't think you can have that info but they know. I had something go to one of my neighbors and they figured out which one and requested he send it along.I got it in the end. |

You can follow many of your UPS deliveries on a live map if you have an account (anyone can sign up). I can see exactly where the truck is and follow it right up to when the package is at my door. As far as the USPS goes at least they did an amazing job with the ballots. Now where are my *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Sounds like maybe tracking scans are a very low priority at over-worked, under-staffed post offices and sorting centers. It must be nice to pay for something and not get it. |

Here in UK sounds like we may have similar problems.
A spokesman for Royal Mail was on TV earlier saying the parcel volume was "way beyond what anyone could have predicted". What with the virus second/third wave, lockdowns and online shopping boom, I think even an idiot not in the delivery business would have guessed there would be a huge surge.
But I suppose they have to say something, rather than admit they screwed up. |

I think the other issue that I have to remind myself of is the potential for short staffing due to the virus. I guess seasonal/temporary help could reduce the impact of that but... |

Quote:The bad thing is with ebay and their managed payments. You have to send tracking information to the buyer and in the meantime ebay puts your funds on hold until delivered. We get penalized for the slowness of the postal system. Its a very time consuming process. Mike Uhh... what? Under managed payments you don't get paid until delivery is confirmed via tracking? This is the first I'm seeing about this. |

At least for me this is not true. The funds are released when I create a shipping label or mark it shipped generally. BTW I assume, maybe wrongly that the release is related to the method of payment. In my commercial card processing account it sometimes takes a few hours to as much as a day for funds to be released by the card issuer's bank. I have been told this is a result of fraud prevention measures. I am also seeing same day transfer to my bank account, tho the funds don't appear in my bank acct. till late in the day or evening. |

ebay managed payments does not hold funds until delivery, I don't think the the release of funds has anything to do with shipping. I have several hundred $ that's been released this week for items that won't ship until Monday. |

Let me correct myself. ebay will put a hold on future funds if a buyer opens up a case for an item not received. You then have to provide tracking info to the buyer. The funds are still held until the item it delivered and the buyer closes the case. Normally I get my funds transferred within 24 hours except on weekends when the money gets to my back on Monday. So to continue venting about the pathetic USPS, I have a piece of mail that was sent to me from from 50 miles away 10 days ago that has now made it to 10 miles away from me as of today.
My Priority Mail Harmer package left NYC on the 14th and has made it to NJ where it is now taking a siesta.
Meanwhile all of my Fedex and UPS stuff makes it on time, even the lowly Ground packages.
COVID apparently is a very strange virus in that it does not affect UPS and Fedex employees as hard as it does USPS employees. |

Yes ebay puts a hold on funds when someone opens a case. I just had a buyer from France open a case for 5 items shipped on Nov 2 with a cost of $555. The USPS tracking showed it arrived in Paris Nov 12 and then nothing. I looked into this and on a hunch went to the France PO site La Poste and tried their tracking. They had attempted to deliver the package twice and were holding it for pickup. ebay rules state that the seller has fulfilled their obligation when delivery has been attempted so I should win my case. It took me several contacts to get ebay to acknowledge the French PO tracking, they wanted to use only USPS tracking, but eventually I prevailed and got them to acknowledge the France tracking and I won the case. I don't know if going to the destination countries PO site will always work but the next time I have a lost International Package I'll try it. |
