I bought two stamps from the Gems of Philately sale, both of which had certs over 5 years old, so I asked for extensions. One of the stamps also had only a PSAG cert, and given some recent experience, I prefer PF certs. Looking through Rumsey's "Terms of Sale", I was surprised to see that they include the PSAG as as accepted authority. This would say that if that cert had been more recent, I couldn't have asked for the extension.

Does anyone know if this is this new for Rumsey? Kelleher and Siegel still only recognize the PF and PSE for US stamps.

I was wondering if folks had received their lots, in particular the "60 year accumulation" lots, and what they thought.

I think both Siegel and Rumsey are holding lots until after the 1st of the year because of the risk of loss due to the big backlog in holiday shipments.

They charged my CC yesterday so I expect they are getting ready to ship. I will report when I get it.

Rumsey explicitly announced at the start of the last day of the sale at least that they weren't going to ship until after the new year. I don't recall if that was also included in the email with the invoice.

I am looking forward to receiving my winnings but am using the time until they arrive to run through some other material....

They did announce the shipping schedule and I thought it was fair of them to wait to charge me until they were ready to ship.

Finally got notification that item was shipped. My ebay customers wouldn't stand for this.

My 60 year accumulation finally arrived in a 22 lb box, which as as well packed as anything I've ever received. It was screened by my Chief of Security Chanel;

The item I bought was described as;

Quote:
France, Holding. From 1 man's 60 year accumulation; includes 3 filled stockbooks going back to earliest issues; huge retail value.
Estimate; $400 - 600.

With a description like that they could have sent me just about anything but I was well pleased with the content.

There were 3 big stock books, 2 started with classics and were well filled from there. The 3rd was all Back of Book with extensive semi postals. There wasn't anything of high catalog value but lots of material that I will be able to sell. There was even a small Scott Specialized collection and several pages of those military cancels that I had never seen.

If I'd inspected it in person I probably wouldn't have bid because selling this type material is too much work but as a $625 consolation prize I'm satisfied.

Too bad none of those WWI cancels (not sure cancel is the right word) was still on cover - they look cool.

Ken, I agree that Rumsey's packing is one of the most secure. At my request, due to new UK importation Brexit issues, they waited until Monday to FedEx my 20 pounds of US postal history large lots and they were delivered at my stamp office in SW London Wednesday morning - that's very fast. And the cost was only a bit more than I paid for a FedEx 5 oz letter to Holland last week which took 3 days to arrive.

Eyeonwall, one of my favorite areas is WWI postal history (my great-grandfather fought in the trenches and survived)

The Military Postal History Society is an excellent resource:

http://www.militaryphs.org/publications_2021.html

I recently bought a specialized collection over here and you can read my descriptions of the handstamps, censor markings, etc in two Google Drive folders here:
