We have inherited my father's plate block stamps. The collection runs from 1946 to early 79s. Mostly 4 sramp but some others. Is an appraisal appropriate or other suggestion
Sorry to sound negative, but with a few exceptions, such blocks do not fetch prices worthy of an appraisal. I use ones I have inherited for postage. Show some of the better ones (higher values, etc?)
If you go on Mystic Stamp and start from Scott 939 to about Scott 1750, you will see that you can buy mint blocks for about $2 apiece, so you would realize much less if you sold as a lot. Few dealers would entertain buying.
