We used this system and eventually got about 4 cards back . I think we took about 2 to post in the UK. It looks a bit different from what I remember I will have to go back through my pictures and check |

They must have cleaned it up by the time I got there. I left off, and picked up, a few postcards. |

I watched a documentary about this place not long ago. A very disturbing and dark story. |

Floreana/Charles island was a camp for Ecuadoran political prisoners when Darwin visited. Its warden famously clued in Darwin as to the subtle differences in tortoises on each island, though Darwin only really took note of the mockingbirds (not the finches!). The mockingbird endemic to this island only survives in small numbers on an islet off its coast.
Later some eccentric Germans settled there, best known for some mysterious murders.
Pirates and whalers set up the post office as there is a cove that makes for a workable harbor. Not a place to swim: the water is saturated with sharks and stingrays. The whalers basically ate all the tortoises. Overall, it is a rather bleak island, but the blue-footed boobies provide some comic relief. |

Greaden, thanks for that image.
There is a hidden message there for all of us. On the timber painted "Horizon" there sits a plastic bottle.
It actually scares me, the amount of plastic I place in my rubbish bin every week, it is growing and , it seems, unavoidable in the most part.

Why was the previous thread locked? As for Galapagos Island, is it considered a separate stamp-issuing entity? In stampworld, they show it separately, but without the recent stamps. In another site, they treat these stamps as some of Ecuador's series that happened to be about Galapagos. |

Galapagos is at the end of Ecuador with Scott I believe. Belay that, in normal Ecuador hierarchy, I have it separated myself, to service my interest.
