3 Cents George Washington Imperforated And Perforated And Red Pigment

Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased these 2 stamps and I have doubts about them.

A - Imperforated:





B -Perforated:





THOUGHTS:

Looking at the catalog that I have I think the imperforate is type II which would be equivalent to Scott number 11A

As for the perforated stamp, I think it is type III and would be equivalent to scott number 26

The color part does not square me because it says that the color in both cases is dull red and in the photos you can see that it is not the same color tone.

On the other hand, there is a red stain on the imperforated stamp that I don't know if it's from the stamp itself or someone has painted it. I attach a scanned photo and I accept opinions about it.



I appreciate opinions about my identification and the other questions.

Juan, I believe your classification of the stamps is correct, Scott #11A and 26. The mark could be either a stain or a portion of the stamp that didn't fade over the years. Or George took up smoking.

Juan, Yes, your stamps are definitely #11A and #26.

Your #11A was printed from plate 1 late (1L). It is a worn-plate impression lacking detail in the triangles. I can't confirm the color from your image, but the ink appears faded, and the stamp is toned, so it wouldn't make a good color example.

Do you have a catalog that only lists one color (dull red) for #11A and #26? The Scott U.S. Specialized catalog lists several color varieties for each of these types.
