Friends of philately

I returned to stamp collecting as a result of being more isolated in the pandemic. I used to be a avid collector, US only and some topical like chess, and small dealer at a Flea Market with coins and antiques. Fortunately I bought a box of stamps recently at a Flea Market, and still have some of my old stamps.

What I miss at present is no fellowship with other collectors at present. Mostly messing around on line.

I am used to getting involved with things with little economic advantages. I am also a published poet, Mime artist and stand up comedian.

go with the flow the river knows . . .

Frank

Frank, welcome. Some chose stamp collecting, and for me, it as delivered in several garbage bags and old notebooks summarizing 100 years of collecting by grandmother, great-grandmother and other relatives. The stamps, covers, etc. were in my mother's attic for over 60 years, and were released to me about 4 years ago, and I have been hooked ever since. Does your collection focus on a specific area, or does it span multiple areas.

Frank,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ

PS: I have friends who think I might do well in stand up; but, being in a wheelchair, it would have to be sit-up To be, or not to be; this is a question?

Welcome Frank. It's true that nothing can replace the human interaction face to face, nonetheless this is not a bad substitute and gets people interacting about common interests from all over the world who you otherwise never "meet" in any format. While there are many who observe the forum discussions only, I think those that actively participate get more enjoyment. I'm glad that you decided to participate.

Welcome, Frank! It's a good community here--far fewer sharp elbows than the other stamp forums.

Thank you all for the friendly greetings and responses. On note I always have been a history buff particularly the Revolution and Civil War, , and an Anglophile,

Question: It appears I am limited at present to access to posting, and beginning threads.

How does this work?

Access to the buy/sell/trade section and use of the messaging system is limited until a member has 50 posts.
