Hello Everyone! I Am New In Philately.

Hello gentleman!

I am from Europe and beginer in filately.
My grandfather was a philatelist, but I however never payed much attention to stamps, because I just didnt find it to be of interesting hobbies
So, when my granfather died his Canada stamps collection was given away to my cousine who was collecting stamps at the time.
It all changed when I recentley bought a couple hundereds of old stamps.
Most of the stamps were from USA, Germany and Sweden.
Among the USA stamps, offcourse also was the famous 1c, green Franklin stamp, so I start to examine and measure it.
Very soon, 1week of studying and reading, I came to the answer taht my stamp is most common, rotary press 1c stamp.
Perf 11, to 10,1/2.

Intersting part is,
Why this stamps one horizontak side does not mach to 11 perforations and why rotary stamp has major flat plate setoff on the back.

Another interesting item is cardoard box in witch tha stamps was stored when I bought them.
It is old some kind of air mail parcel box with lincoln stapms on it and faded postage companies logos all around the sides of the box.

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ

PS: Sometime, when you can, please post pictures of the box your stamps were in. Don and others can help with the technical details of posting an image if you need some. Its stamps and markings should tell the rest of its story.

May be some one knows more about this item of witch I posted pictures, you can see above?
Is it something unusual or just old box worth nothing?

Your first post says "Hello gentleman!". Thanks but there are a lot of "gentlewomen or ladies" on this forum and in philately, as well. Best to inclusive of all in the hobby.
We need photos or scans of stamps to help you answer your questions about your common 1 cent Franklin. You should use the search button at the top of the page to try and find an answer to your questions. There is a wealth of information already on the forum.
Your box might be collectible by someone but I am not sure who. I would keep it for my stamp room and probably use it for holding something that I have.

These the photos of 1c Francklin #632  stamp.

Design size was mesured comparing it to
Scott #557 flatpress 5c Roosevelt stamp perf 11.

Intersting is that this, used, 1c franklin stamp has massive setoff on the back of the stamp
And horizontal botom margin perforations do not match to the perf.11 gauge, noor to scott #557 stamp perforations.
Or they does?
Perf 11 1/4 or Perf 11?
