Reunion.....a French colony.....listed after France....offices abroad...just before the colony listings.

Tonya-

Reunion is an island in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar. Madagascar is almost halfway between mainland Africa and Reunion, if that helps picture its location. A Francophile might quibble with this explanation, but it is almost like a "state" of France. (Think of the relationship of Hawaii to the rest of the U.S...I think that would be a pretty accurate analogy.)

The best part for us is that Reunion has a lot of good looking, inexpensive stamps. This waterfall design is probably the most familiar, but there are others that are just as attractive, to my eyes. The first airmails of Reunion are a nice and inexpensive set, for instance. If there is interest, I can post a few.

I've got to keep looking for the earlier ones...here are Scott C6 to C13...I've included a larger scan of each design to show some of the detail. Don't they make you want to visit?
